A fun project
A few weeks ago I was introduced to a website called StoryJumper which allows you to create your own picture books. It’s really user-friendly and has cute props you can use to superimpose over various scenes. The selection isn’t extensive, but since it’s relatively new that might change. You can also play around with fonts and there are several text-boxes to choose from.

The nice thing about this site is that it’s a project you can complete relatively quickly, which gives you a psychological lift. I’ve started on my second book and am making it up as I go. If I’m honest, I’ve spent more time on the graphics than the writing, but it makes a nice change from obsessing over vocabulary and sentence structure.
Kids and adults can participate alike and it doesn’t really matter if you are a wordsmith or not. Many of the books on the site are not what I would call ‘polished’, but the authors might improve their technique with time. I’ve already sent off for my hard-cover copy and can’t wait to hold it in my hands.
Yours in writing,
Sophie
